Knee Concerns

The knee is effectively a hinge and is influenced by the hip and the ankle. It is a joint you commonly see injured in contact sport collisions. Muscle imbalances around the knee cap, and strength imbalances between the muscles at the back of the knee (hamstrings) and front of the knee (quads) have a strong effect on knee joint efficiency. Programs to improve knee function should include strength and balance exercises for all three joints; the knee, hip and ankle, with a particular focus on quads and hamstring strengthening.
